You see that? It's carrot cake for dogs. It smells like carrot cake. I may or may not have tasted it. You would've done it so stop making that stank face.

In Dog Years......
My dog is dropping thirty-five today. We are officially the same age. I can't believe I've kept him alive for this long. I even remember to feed him every single day. No one thought I'd be able to stick to the commitment of being a pet owner. To all of you who thought that...suck on this. My dog is awesome and partially human. I mean, really? How many dogs do you know that have favorite songs and can differentiate between them? In honor of the fantastical beagle, I'm posting his very own playlist. He also got some all natural, organic pupcakes today from a gourmet dog bakery at the Farmer's Market on Fairfax. Juicy Shout-Out to the Three Dog Bakery for making the beagle's birthday a fun one. I looked over at him after he ran off with his pupcake and said, "Damn, that dog likes to party...with two R's."

i totally got nico a birthday cake from three dog bakery one year and he pooped carob for a week. hopefully the same won't happen to you...
Video....of the fantastical beagle howling to Hollaback Girl please. The party with two Rs thing will never get old. Good thing I have two Rs in my last name. Just not side by side. That counts, right?
My dogs will never get birthday presents. Never. They tend to get the "I helped myself to Mom's best friend's homemade meatloaf right before it went into the oven" last Friday variety... and then I have to clean up the mess (and spend the night smoothing over a friendship with an incredibly pissed off friend).
Probably didn't help that my first response to her frantic phone call to me was "well, did you leave it out or something?!"
Oops. :)
Happy Birthday to Mr. Beagle - I second Bradshaw's motion!
My pooch turns ONE next month (or seven in dog years). I had the same realization that you did. The reality that I have not only kept her alive, but taught her things like 'sit' and 'stop chewing on that before I strangle you' is exciting and also sort of a miracle.
Congrats on the big 3-5 for your beagle!
Oh, and I totally would have tried the cake too.
This little beagle says thanks to all of you. I will work on the video, I promise. It's so hard to catch him doing it because when the camera comes out...he runs. I will get it over the weekend though! His facial expressions are priceless.
Oh grumbles...I hope the carob disaster was an isolated incident. So far, we're okay!
