Just out of curiosity.... Would you decorate your baby's room in a pattern that your good friend (whose name rhymes with funket) wanted to use for the child she didn't have (yet)? Especially since it's ..you know...SEA TURTLES and you don't even like getting sandy.
I hate to say it (and maybe it has to do with my being a guy), but I don't think the pattern in the room is likely all that important. Chances are, by the time you have your child (which, as you mentioned, is only theoretical atm), your friend's child's room will likely have been redecorated.
Also, it's not like she's naming her kid something that you were publicly intending to name yours. That would make her a giant horrid bitch. :D
I could care less if my child has the same room as everyone else. It's not about being the same. It's about knowing someone is hurting and then pouring salt into the wound when it could have been avoided. I probably have no right to be so sensitive about it and I will never say a single hurtful thing to her about it. More than likely, she is doing it as a nod to me and on one hand that is very sweet. On the other...well..you know. Oh Michael... you're such a guy :)
Try to remember that most likely this girl has never gone through what you're going through, and she doesn't realize how hard it is, how much you are yearning for something that just isn't happening at this moment.
Oh! See, I didn't read anything into the post about you feeling hurt by this. I just thought you were annoyed. :) If it comes off as salt in the wound, that sucks an awful lot, and I'm sorry to hear it. And as a good friend, she should know that this might hurt you, but I agree with you, it is probably being done more in your honor than anything else.
In this case, my vote in the poll is #3. But you can't have him forever, just while my back keeps hurting. Once it's better I'll be wanting him back. :)
It's definetly a little weird but I doubt your friend is actually trying to hurt your feelings. She probably isn't aware that it's a sensitive subject, like Josey said. But you're entitled to feel like crap about it.
I don't know...I think she should come up with her own damn theme...Why steal that? If you're aware of a friend's idea, no matter what it is, I'd say you have no right to take it as your own, unless you ask permission.
When the time comes, I will drive all the way from WA to help you pick out a sea turtle pattern that blows her sea turtles into...extinction!(Not that we want any REAL turtles to be harmed.)
You guys are sweet to be supportive. It is insensitive, but I'm going to believe that she did it because she thought I'd get a kick out of it. Whether or not that's true is irrelevant I guess. See Josey...just when I think I've got this under control....something else happens just to remind me!

Venting can help so much sometimes.... I'm glad you're feeling a little better after that! Friends are important, even though they don't always know exactly what we need at the right time, overall, they'll always be there for us.
